Cut Out Back Dresses

Cut it out: Summer's latest dress trend

One of my biggest shopping pet peeves is finding what appears to be a perfect work dress, then pulling it off the rack only to discover that it's backless, has a crazy neckline or is filled with holes.

A flash of skin here. A peek of flesh there. The warm weather has Hollywood stars declaring their right to go bare in cut out dresses.

Actress Mila Kunis showed off her chest at the 2010 Writer’s Guild Awards in a black Hervé Léger bandage dress with a keyhole cut out. The Hills star Kristen Cavallari chose a Donna Mizrahi number for a night out at Voyeur Nightclub in Los Angeles. The bad girl bared a shoulder, a bit of her torso, and a hint of her hip in the black mini dress, and Halle Berry gave a glimpse of her toned abs in a Gucci number at the Jenesse Center’s 30th Anniversary Silver Rose Gala.

The great thing about the cut out trend is that it gives you a chance to show off your best assets. If you have fabulous abs, chose a dress with a slit across the stomach. Glorify your great cleavage in a dress with a cut out on the chest. Or, accentuate your small waist in a dress with holes on the hips. Whatever area you choose to highlight, a cut out dress is sure to be a sexy choice for a sizzling night out.
