Everybody's wearing... maxi dresses

It's not often celebs flaunt it in full, floaty and flattering, but this time they're donning a trend we truly can adopt. We predict maxi mania...
This style works perfectly with Katie Price's sophisticated new look. Has she got maxi power?

Found! Lindsay Lohan's Colorblock Maxi Dress
Right before being slapped with another DUI (shame!), Lindsay Lohan was seen partying in this beautiful colorblock maxi dress. Most of you, Fab included, wanted to know who designed this striking dress. Some speculated it was Ella Moss, some DKNY. Nope, neither! It's Lipsy Colorblock Maxi Dress, $208. She doesn't look very happy in this dress, but that fun colorblocking would sure brighten up my day!

D & G Tiered printed silk maxi dress
For SS12, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana presented a masterful tribute to the history of D&G, reinvigorating archive prints to create a fabulously feminine collection. In a kaleidoscope of colors, this tiered silk dress was one of the stars of the runway, beautifully encapsulating the brand's glamorous Mediterranean spirit. For an on-trend boho-luxe look, wear yours with stacked golden bangles and a raffia clutch.
Multicolored silk. Handkerchief tie at cutout front, elasticated empire waist, waist sash, tiered layers through skirt, partially lined. Halterneck ties. 100% silk. Dry clean.

Never out done by her pal, Nicole Richie did an equally stunning take on the trend in Missoni.

The maxi dress is extremely popular, and they’re simple to combine. If you’re small you can go for killing heels or wedges, and if your tall you can make it work with some casual flats.

Balmain Spring-Summer 2014 RTW Fashion Show

Overalls at Balmain? Two years ago, when Olivier Rousteing stepped into his creative director role, it was bling, baby, bling. But after a Fall show that often landed on the wrong side of audacious, Rousteing is reconsidering the house's signature intense beading. "I wanted to explore something casual and sporty," he shared backstage. "It's less evening and more real. It's more me."

Cue Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "Relax" on the soundtrack and the first look out—a cardigan, of all things, belted over a ruffled skirt that fell all the way to the knees. True, it was black leather, but a skirt that grazes the models' knees qualifies as headline news at Balmain. And there was more where that came from, including quilted bombers, sweatshirts, and baseball tees.

We're not saying that Rousteing gave up entirely on glitz. Not at all. The silhouettes were more relaxed than usual, but there was still plenty happening on the surface of things. For Spring, he likes pied-de-poule in black and white and Vichy prints in baby blue or pink, accented with necklaces and wrestler's belts. Denim got the deluxe treatment, quilted and trimmed in chunky gold chain, or reproduced in a silk print. Crystals came in at the end, but because they're so familiar at Balmain, they felt predictable. Best in show was a pair of those overalls fitted all the way up above the bust in glossy black leather.
