Mood/style:
Diesel Black Gold ramped it up this season with new women’s wear designer Andreas Melbostad. He worked a collection that was mostly dark-toned (save for a few all-white examples) and heavy on iconic motoring and biker references.
Ornamental hardware was prominent and fabrics were distressed. The silhouette was ultra-lean. Leather jackets had peaked shoulders, quilted sleeves, multiple zippers, snaps, belts, pockets and were shown with zip-front mini-skirts. Pants were sculpted to the body, low-waisted, seamed, stitched, also embellished with zippers. The same theme carried over to the dresses. For example: a stretch lace dress was banded with leather trim, gifted with zip-off cargo pockets and a high belted leather collar. Metal studs also ruled. Melbostad installed them in stripes on pants and as an all-over pattern on tops, jackets and dresses, mixing different sizes and colors, to build contemporary urban armor
